HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible - 3rd EDITION - The third edition of the HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal & Flexible is primarily for commercial and institutional projects and contains first time ratings for the TDF and the TDC connectors. Schedules have been standardized on "minimum" thickness rather than "nominal" thickness of sheet metal - a major change. The new construction standards contain re-rated rectangular, round, oval and flexible duct constructions for positive or negative pressures up to 10" water gage (2500 Pa). Widths go to 120" in gages 26 to 16. Diameters go to 84" in gages 28 to 16. New performance requirements facilitate equivalent ratings for non-illustrated construction. The data have been reorganized for easy use and reference; includes soft metrics. Other revisions occur in duct liner, hangers, fittings, vanes, dampers, tie rods, joints and tests. Lead shielding has been added. Seal classes, casings, louvers, rooftop vents, sheet gage (thickness) tolerances and accessories are retained. For uncoated steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel and some aluminum ducts. Covers new rectangular duct reinforcement options for using tie rods at mid-panel in lieu of external intermediate reinforcements - as Addendum No. 1, 11/97. Adopted in the 1996, 1998 and 2000 ICC International Mechanical Code.
HVAC Duct Systems Inspection Guide - Contains guidelines for inspection of commercial HVAC duct systems for compliance with SMACNA's HVAC Duct Construction Standards, Metal and Flexible, (2nd Ed.) and Fibrous Glass Duct Construction Standards (6th Ed.). It reviews materials and reinforcement of duct systems, as well as assembly and supports of ducts. The Fire, Smoke and Radiation Damper Guide (4th Ed.) also summarizes installation details. Checklists are included for ductwork and fire dampers. Valuable as a study guide for the HVAC Duct Construction Standards manual and for learning inspection procedures in general. Includes soft metrics.
AIR HANDLING SYSTEMS DESIGN - A complete guide to selecting and designing air handling systems for all types of air-conditioned buildings. Focuses exclusively on central air handling systems, it provides detailed practical information on more than 25 constant volume, variable volume, and hybrid systems-including single zone, terminal reheat, double duct, dual conduit, and hydronic pump systems.
Sheet Metal Made Lean & Clean - This guide is an introduction to owners, managers and workers in sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing shops to the principles and methods of lean production. It defines the application of lean production to sheet metal shop operations and provides the reader with an assortment of tools to begin the process of making their shop operations more efficient.
A Guide To Insulated Air Duct Systems - Sets forth the basics of fibrous glass air duct insulation, its role in thermal and acoustical performance and how it contributes to indoor comfort and environmental quality. It covers fibrous glass duct systems, duct liner and duct wrap insulations for sheet metal ducts, rigid duct insulation, and flexible insulated ducts. Details the features and benefits of each type and job-site checklists for inspectors and code officials are included. NO. OF PAGES: 32 pp. PUBLISH DATE: 1997 PUBLISHER: NAIMA UNITS: I-P Item Code: 96753
Cleaning Fibrous Glass Insulated Air Duct Systems - Includes general guidelines for determining when insulated ducts may need to be cleaned, how to open ductwork for access by personnel with cleaning equipment, how to close and seal openings after cleaning, and brief descriptions of commonly used cleaning methods and equipment. Pre-cleaning and post-cleaning checklists are included. NO. OF PAGES: 40 pp. PUBLISHER: NAIMA UNITS: I-P Item Code: 96755
FIBROUS GLASS DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS - Includes comprehensive instructions on how to fabricate and install fibrous glass duct systems. This illustrated handbook depicts methods of constructing simple straight duct sections plus tees, elbows and complex fittings, installing accessories, connecting ducts to HVAC equipment. Outlines UL 181A approved closure systems, recommended methods of reinforcement, support, and damage repair. Includes a detailed job inspection checklist. (Designed for use in conjunction with the Videotapes: "Duct Board Fabrication Concepts".)
144-page Manual
FIBROUS GLASS DUCT LINER STANDARD - This standard provides comprehensive and detailed information regarding the materials, accessories, specification, fabrication, installation, commissioning, maintenance and service life of fibrous glass duct liners. Includes numerous informative illustrations. Third Edition, 2002.
29-page Manual
Pub. No. AH124
HVAC AIR DUCT LEAKAGE TEST MANUAL - Solves duct leakage control using duct seal class and duct leakage class! A companion to HVAC Duct Construction Standards - Metal and Flexible, this manual contains duct construction leakage classification, expected leakage rates for sealed and unsealed ductwork, duct leakage test procedures, recommendations on use of leakage testing, types of test apparatus and test setup and sample leakage analysis. Also covered are orifice flow meter design and valuable references for fluid meter instrumentation. This manual is referenced in ASHRAE's Energy Conservation Standard 90.1. Identified as DALT by some government agencies. Can be used for positive and negative pressure tests.
HVAC SYSTEMS DUCT DESIGN - A fundamental duct system design manual for commercial and light industrial heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. System effects for inlets and outlets of fans, noise control in ducts and use of extractors, splinters and dampers are included. New loss coefficients for elbows with 45-degree throats on square and radius heels and radius throats with square heels. Losses compare favorably with elbows with double wall turning vanes in several cases. Structured to offer the designer options in energy-efficient design methods, materials and construction. Includes soft metrics.
Residential Sheet Metal Guidelines - The first edition of SMACNAs Residential Sheet Metal Guidelines offers contractors, designers, builders and homeowners a source of expert information on the proper fabrication and installation of exterior sheet metal in residential buildings. Covering topics that include roof drainage systems, decks, chimneys, windows, doors and ledges, the new manual presents details and explanations based on and designed for low-rise residential buildings, up to three stories, that are used as single-family and multi-family dwellings. The guide also highlights details commonly used in residential sheet metal work throughout the industry. In addition to generic detail drawings, design data and the appendixes will help users to adapt the drawings to local climate and project conditions. Carefully examining the information along with the local climate conditions will enable users to select the proper details for practically any residential architectural sheet metal application.
